![]() ![]() ![]() Why be concerned with gossip? Because it’s much easier, as well as far more enjoyable, to identify and label the mistakes of others than to recognize our own. I hope to enrich the vocabulary that people use when they talk about the judgements and choices of others, the company’s new policies, or a colleague’s investment decisions. Mine is the proverbial office watercooler, where opinions are shared and gossip is exchanged. “Every author, I suppose, has in mind a setting in which readers of his or her work could benefit from having read it. In 2011, he was named by Foreign Policy magazine to its list of top global thinkers. With Amos Tversky and others, Kahneman established a cognitive basis for common human errors that arise from heuristics and biases, and developed prospect theory. His empirical findings challenge the assumption of human rationality prevailing in modern economic theory.
